Mind the funding gap!Our community learning champion volunteers, aka the CLP Angels, are not going to let government cut-backs stop us in our tracks! The reduced funding we will receive from the Skills Funding Agency has prompted them to develop community fundraising right here in South Oxhey.
Pamper Evening, 8th JulyOn Friday, 8th July 2011 from 7.00 pm - 10.00 pm the CLP Angels are hosting a pamper evening for women in the Labour Club, Henbury Way. The entrance charge is only £2.50, and small charges will be made for mini treatments. There will be threading, henna tattoos, nail art, massage, Virgin Vie, Avon, hair curling and lots, lots more. Angels have made bag jewels to sell, and our budding baking entrepeneur will have delicious cupcakes on sale.
We hope that this will be the first of many initiatives to address the funding gap, and that Transition Funding we have received will help us to identify further opportunities to diversify our income streams.
Big Society ModelIn fact, we're developing a Big Society model of serving the needs of our local communities, and engaging with volunteers to help us to continue to deliver adult and family learning projects in the most disadvantaged areas of Hertfordshire. Not only that, but the CLP Angels are also using and developing skills that will boost confidence and self-esteem, preparing them for further learning and employment.
So, if you're free and female on the evening of 8th July, you're very welcome to join us for an evening of pampering and well-being. Not only will you benefit by recharing your batteries, you also know that funds raised will enable us to continue our important and rewarding work.
